Although shaky hands and other parts of your body can make it very difficult to live a normal life, invasive surgeries and certain medications can be risky options. With new research findings, paired with age-old herbal remedies, there are other solutions to consider. Here is a list of the current natural treatments available.

Reduce Stress
Stress is a part of daily life. From emotional to financial, there are so many issues that could be weighing on your mind. Stress can actually intensify Essential Tremor suffering. Reducing stress is essential to not only mental health but physical as well. Stress is the number one cause of all diseases. It’s a medical fact that your mind controls your body.
If your mind is stressed, your body will not work as efficiently. Since ET is a neurological disorder, your body’s tremors are likely caused partly, or even mainly, by stress. If you’re going through a tough time in your life, you may need to see a therapist. There are also many other ways to reduce stress. Getting a massage can help calm the body and mind. If you don’t know what is causing your stress or don’t want to see a therapist, then practice yoga and/or meditate. Meditation brings clarity to your mind and relaxes the nerves, thus improving the neurological disorder.
Learn to relax during stressful times. Stop and take a deep breath when you feel anxious. Stress and anxiety tend to make tremors worse, and being relaxed may improve tremors. Although you can’t eliminate all stress from your life, you can change how you react to stressful situations using the above relaxation techniques.
Limit Caffeine
Try to avoid – or at least limit – caffeine and other stimulants because they can increase your tremors. In a study, 2 percent of normal controls noted that drinking coffee made their hands shaky. 6 percent of Parkinson’s disease patients and 8 percent of ET patients felt that coffee worsened their tremor. In formal tests, a smaller, single oral dose of caffeine (320 mg) did not increase symptoms of Parkinson’s disease patients or ET patients at 1-3 hours after ingestion. This shows that a small amount of caffeine for the day is fine, but the more caffeine you ingest the worse your tremors will be.
Other Lifestyle Adjustments
There are ways you can make life much easier. Here are a few tips:
1. Cook and eat with utensils that have large handles.
2. Use straws to drink liquids.
3. Buy clothing that come with ways to be fastened easily, such as button hooks or Velcro fasteners.
4. Wear slip-on shoes and use shoehorns when putting them on.
Making lifestyle changes is important for your daily comfort in treating your condition. Use the hand less affected by tremors more often. Find ways to avoid writing with the hand affected by tremor, such as using online banking and debit cards instead of writing checks. Try using speech-recognition software on your computer and voice-activated dialing on your cell phone. Doctors may offer you other suggestions in your daily life, but these natural ways are very effective in themselves.
